Shortwood is an organic dairy farm and has belonged to the Legge family since 1903. It is set in the beautiful county of Herefordshire and, due to its elevated setting, has spectacular views into neighbouring Wales, Gloucestershire and Worcestershire.
We offer experience days perfect for anyone who wants to learn more about farming - whether you’re thinking of beginning your own small holding or simply looking for a great day out in the glorious Herefordshire countryside, or just because you love animals!
You’ll get the chance to join in with the day-to-day running of our farm - feeding the animals, milking the cows, collecting the eggs, driving a tractor (full driving license needed) and generally getting stuck in!
A delicious lunch in our farmhouse kitchen is included.
We can tell you everything you want to know about organic farming - from what goes into producing an organic pint of milk to how we manage the grassland. There will be time to walk around the land and even explore our beautiful semi-natural ancient woodland, or visit the donkeys and ponies if you’re a horse-lover!
The cost is £120 per person, maximum of 6 people per day.
Duration of the day: 9am to 5pm
Gift vouchers are available.
To conform with health and safety the day will be supervised throughout and a fact sheet of safety rules and suitable clothing etc will be sent at the time of booking.
